Rio Alcan Bid Wins Canadian Approval

Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto has won Canadian regulatory approval for its A$42.84bn takeover of Canadian aluminum producer Alcan.

The approval follows go-ahead by EU competition regulators at the start of this month.

The sale will transform Rio Tinto into the world's largest producer of aluminum.
