High River Gold Mines' subsidiary Bissa Gold has received a mining licence from the government authorities of Burkina Faso for its Bissa gold project in West Africa.

The mining license has been issued for a period of 20 years, with a possibility for renewal.

With receipt of the license, High River is planning to start mine construction operations by the end of 2011.

The Bissa gold project covers an area of about 1,000km² in the province of Sanmatenga, about 80km north of the capital city of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso.

The Bissa gold project's exploration permits consist of seven contiguous permits; Zandkom, Bissa, Raka, Tosse, Tema, Gargo and Namtenga.
