London Mining has obtained environmental permits from the Sierra Leone Environmental Protection Agency (SLEPA) for the development and operation of its Marampa iron ore mine in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
The SLEPA earlier approved and accepted the company’s environmental impact assessment, which underwent four public hearings in Sierra Leone.
The company is due an annual renewal by the agency that requires ongoing environmental compliance in accordance with the Sierra Leone Environmental Act 2008 and the payment of an annual fee.
The company recently announced that it plans to increase the production of the Marampa project from 1.5mtpa to 1.8mtpa initially and then to 3.6mtpa under Phase 1.
The company has also modified its mine and processing plan with a view to accommodating high-grade ore and expansion.
