With all eyes on commodity prices in 2016, tenders awarded and pending will provide an invaluable marker for taking the mining industry's temperature. Mining-technology lists the mining industry’s ten biggest tenders announced or awarded in 2015.
Client: Bharat Coking Coal Limited - $287.26m
Bharat Coking Coal announced a tender to hire Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) for its Dhansar-Ena Colliery in Kusunda Area, in March 2015. Vendors can submit their bids until 13 April 2016.
The tender also covers the crushing of coal by portable crusher. The HEMM is used for the removal of overburden (OB), extraction and transportation of coal with fire fighting from different seams at patch-DE (Mega Project).
Client: BHP Billiton / Vendor: Thiess Pty Ltd - $160m
BHP Billiton awarded a $160m contract to Thiess Pty Ltd in August 2015 for the mining of nickel at Rocky's Reward mine within Leinster mine complex, approximately 400km north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
Thiess will provide turnkey mining services including mine planning, explosives, drill and blast services, overburden and ore mining, and overarching technical support.
Client: Avanco Resources Limited / Vendor: MACA Limited - $120m
Avanco Resources Limited awarded a $120m contract to MACA Limited for the delivery of open pit mining services to the Antas north copper project in Brazil, in August 2015.
The scope of contract includes drilling, blasting, loading and hauling work at the mine site area. MACA offers a range of surface mining and crushing services for projects in Australia and Brazil.
Client: State Agency of Geology and Mineral Resources of Kyrgyz Republic / Vendor: Vostok-Geoldobycha - $100m
The State Agency of Geology and Mineral Resources of Kyrgyz Republic awarded a $100m contract to Vostok-Geoldobycha, JSC for development activities at Jerooy gold mine, in May 2015.
The scope of the contract includes the development and production of gold deposits as well as the construction of some infrastructure at the mine site.

VAS Latvijas autocelu uzturetajs (LAU) awarded a $90.81m road salt tender to a group of vendors including AS Skinest Rail; SIA Aktivators; SIA Oil Logistic; SIA Razosanas komercfirma M2, in October 2015.
VAS LAU is one of the major companies in the Republic of Latvia. It is involved in the construction and maintenance of state highways, engineering structures and communication infrastructure.
Client: Hanking Gold Mining / Vendor: Watpac - $80m
Australian gold producer Hanking Gold Mining Pty awarded an $80m contract to Brisbane-based Watpac Limited in August 2015, to obtain mining services for its new Axehandle Gold Mine, part of the existing Southern Cross Operations.
Watpac is responsible for removing and stockpiling topsoil, and bulk excavation of overburden and ore using its own equipment.

Bundesamt fur zentrale Dienste und offene Vermogensfragen (Federal Office for Central Services and Unresolved Property Issues) awarded a $76.56m contract to Aurubis AG for silver bars, in October 2015.
Under the contract, Aurubis will deliver 150t of silver in the form of bars with a weight of approximately 31.1kg each, meeting the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) specifications for standard - silver ingots (each approximately 1000oz).

Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council on behalf of the Welsh Purchasing Consortium (WPC), announced a $51.31m tender for the procurement of bitumen and asphalt, in June 2015.
The framework agreement will necessitate the supply of products for a period of two years, with an option to extend the contract for two more years. The tender includes lots and tenderers can submit proposals for one or more lots.

Umicore will deliver up to 52t of silver in the form of good delivery bars or in the form of silver granules of LBMA standard.
