Abstract

The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) has released a temporary code of conduct for mineral exploration in Western Australia. The code states the objectives, benefits and applicability of the interim code and provides a definition of an explorer, exploration activities, land, landholder, regulator and regulators for the mining industry.

The code of conduct also includes a step-by-step procedure guide explorers should follow prior to and during exploration activity.

The need for explorers to maintain proper communication levels with landowners and the various environmental management measures to be adopted during exploration process has also been recognised here.
