Comparison of Sampling Methods Using Size Distribution Analysis
Blast hole sampling is challenging, especially from large rotary drill holes. While it depends on the material density, diameter and depth of the hole, the mass of drill cuttings coming up from the hole is often counted in tonnes.
IMA Engineering developed a new sampling device, the Rotary AutoSampler (RAS), which is an automatic system that collects samples continuously while drilling, and subsequently splits the sample into an adjustable and pre-selected sample size.
