Crocodile Tyre Sales - Crocodile Airless Industrial Tyres

Crocodile tyres are a new type of airless (solid) tyre designed specifically for industrial machines such as skid steer loaders, drill rigs and shotcrete machines. Compared with conventional solid tyres or solid-filled pneumatics, Crocodile tyres provide an excellent cushioned ride and considerable weight savings.

Crocodile tyres are supplied complete with Chemlok bonded profiled rims. This means that no aftermarket rim fitting is required: the tyre / rim assemblies are shipped ready to bolt onto the end user's machine.

Why should you choose Crocodile tyres?

  • Greater machine productivity - downtime due to tyre damage is eliminated
  • Increased safety - no risk of blowouts under load
  • Greater durability - tread life up to four times longer than pneumatic equivalents
  • Ride quality vastly improved as compared with conventional solids and solid-filled pneumatics, due to patented void design
  • More economical as compared with pneumatic tyres, due to the elimination of downtime

Airless tyre technology

The Crocodile tyre is an airless (solid) tyre with some unique characteristics. The technology was invented by the company chairman Alan Burns, who identified the need for a tough, maintenance-free tyre for use in the harsh Australian outback conditions which could also provide a comfortable ride and use standard pneumatic rims, which are relatively inexpensive, light in weight and freely available.

The Crocodile tyre consists of a steel ring welded around the outer periphery of a standard pneumatic tyre rim, onto which the tyre rubber is bonded during the moulding (vulcanisation) process.

Crocodile tyres use two different rubber compounds in their construction: a resilient cushion compound and a tough, cut, tear and abrasion resistant tread compound. The cushion compound provides excellent ride cushioning characteristics, and suffers minimal heat build-up during use which translates to enhanced tyre life.

A carefully designed, patented void pattern is moulded into the sidewalls during vulcanisation. This feature greatly enhances the cushioning characteristics of Crocodile tyres and also reduces the rubber mass in the tyre.

Airless tyres available

Crocodile Tyre Sales currently has the following products available:

  • 12 - 16.5 NHS mining service
  • 13.5 - 28 NHS mining service - this tyre is suitable for a wide range of mining equipment, particularly for underground jumbo drill rigs
  • 12 - 16.5 NHS skid steer loader - this tyre provides outstanding cushioning and durability under the harshest conditions
  • 10 - 16.5 NHS skid steer loader - this tyre provides outstanding cushioning and durability under the harshest conditions

Crocodile mining service tyres provide excellent cut and tear resistance as well as superior ride comfort on underground mining machines, at significantly reduced cost compared to solid-filled pneumatic tyres.

About Crocodile tyres

Crocodile Tyre Sales is based in Perth, Western Australia, and is the Australian distributor of the Crocodile range of airless industrial tyres. Crocodile Corporation owns the patented Crocodile tyre technology and retains the exclusive right to manufacture and distribute Crocodile tyres worldwide.

Crocodile airless tyre technology is the result of many years of development in Western Australia, one of the harshest environments in the world for off-road tyres. The result is a maintenance-free off-road industrial tyre, which provides exceptional tread life and durability, while at the same time providing a soft cushioned ride, to the benefit of operator comfort and machine transmission life.
