MOBILE ONSITE HEARING TESTING

Our onsite hearing services include:

• Audiometry – onsite hearing testing with a mobile testing unit, as well as testing in one of our clinics as per health and safety mine-noise regulations
• Follow-up audiological evaluations

The service can travel to sites located in rural areas, and even across Australian states, in order to meet customer requirements.

VARICOM: TWO-WAY HEARING PROTECTION

Activities conducted in noisy environments can cause problems with speech communication between miners. Hearing protection can block out speech recognition, which can be impractical. Varicom provides a solution to this problem.

EMPLOYEE HEARING PROTECTION

The Varicom consists of a custom-made earpiece with a built-in miniature microphone and speaker. All the electronic parts are embedded within the earpiece, insulating them against the environmental noise. This allows for exceptional speech intelligibility, increasing productivity, hearing welfare and employee safety.

MICROCOM: IN-EAR BOOM MIKE SYSTEM

The Microcom system is a generic boom mike system, specifically designed for applications where the user is likely to be exposed to high levels of noise but must also be able to wear head protection in comfort. Microcom forms both a communication system and a hearing protection system. It is possible for this system to connect with several different radios and cell phones.

VARIPHONE EAR PLUGS: CUSTOMISED HEARING PROTECTION

Variphone recognises the importance of a hearing protector that fits well, and it is for this reason that their protectors are custom-made to suit the exact shape and size of each wearer. The unique two-canal design of the Variphone allows fast tuning of the attenuation quality controls, and efficient regular check-ups.

IN-EAR HEARING PROTECTION

The Variphone AEP-1 has been designed for use within high-noise environments, especially in applications where high-noise peaks may occur from machinery. They are available for left or right ear fitting, and incorporate a microphone, earphone driver with volume control and an ultra-fast compression system with a ‘brickwall’ output limiter restriction. The maximum transmitted output is 85dB, regardless of the ambient noise levels.

The sophisticated audio processing used in the AEP-1 will respond to low-level signals when using a telephone or engaging in whispered conversation, as well as very loud noises without saturation distortion.
