Strata Products supplies portable inflatable refuge chambers, steel refuge chambers and breathing air systems to the international mining industry.

PORTABLE INFLATABLE REFUGE CHAMBER

Strata Products provides the portable fresh air bay - an inflatable refuge chamber that can be folded up and stows away in a steel container when not in use. This container is called the Strata Products fresh air bay skid. The skid also stores compressed air and oxygen cylinders, a CO2 scrubbing system and multiple other supplies needed to sustain life for 96 hours. The entire system is completely powerless.

In the event of an emergency, the Bays are deployed directly from the skid by activating a flow of compressed air. The air flow inflates the unit it minutes. Miners enter and remain in the chamber until rescued. Medical grade oxygen cylinders and an active CO2 scrubbing system maintain breathable air inside the chamber. The CO2 scrubber is a patent pending design that is powered by compressed air.

Additional supplies provided include; water, food, a gas monitor, flashlights, first aid kits and a toilet.

The fresh air bays are constructed from durable, flame retardant nylon based material. The edges are welded to be air tight, while the construction is high-quality and intended for long term use.

The Bays are available in standard sizes and can be custom constructed to meet customer requirements.

EMERGENCY REFUGE CHAMBER

Strata Products also offers exclusive distributorship on a steel-constructed emergency refuge chamber.

The Strata Safety chambers are available in standard sizes, and can be fully customized according to individual customer needs.

There are two versions of the chamber; battery powered and powerless. The battery powered units have crush-proof batteries that operate the air conditioner, CO2 scrubber and lighting system. The powerless chamber has the patent pending air-driven CO2 scrubber, stand-alone cooling methods and MSHA approved Flashlights.

Ninety-six hours of breathable air is provided. This consists of medical grade oxygen cylinders and an active CO2 scrubbing system. Compressed air is used with the air-driven scrubber. Soda lime chemicals are used to scrub the CO2 out of the air.

Features standard on all chambers include; padded seats, storage areas, food, water, a first aid kit, gas monitor, fire extinguisher and toilet.

All chambers are manufactured with a skid base, fork-lift guides and lifting facilities.

BREATHING AIR SYSTEMS

Strata Products offers both its powered and powerless breathing air systems as stand-alone systems to be used in refuge rooms and/or barricaded areas. The systems are the same ones available with our chambers and are set inside our Strata Products skid. This enables it to be safely stored in the mine and easily moved to different locations.

AIRDOC - CHANGE OVER STATION

The Airdoc is a unit that has been designed to facilitate 'self escape' in the event of an emergency. It is a transitional station that offers the miners a non-toxic environment in which to exchange SCSR units during evacuation of the mine.

The unit is designed with an entry and exit and miners walk through the chamber. It has a storage rack to stores unused SCSR units. Miners discard their used units in a disposal bin inside the chamber.

Breathable air is provided by the Strata Products breathing air system. Air-lock clear strip curtains at both the entry and exit minimize the entrance of contaminants into the main area.
