A new Mining and Resources Security User Group (MARSUG) has been established to provide an open environment for sharing information around best practice security and facilities management within the unique mining environment.

MARSUG is an independent forum, initiated by Gallagher Security Management Systems (GSMS), manufacturer of Cardax access control and intruder alarms systems and PowerFence™ perimeter security systems, for the benefit of system users and companies whose core business is within the Mining and Resources sector.

Meeting agendas are set by the groups' members to ensure maximum value is derived by all attendees. The forum also operates as a valuable and efficient means for the mining and resources industry to feedback their specific security needs and challenges to GSMS. Similar User Groups set up by GSMS within other industries have been very well received and supported by its customers and other members for several years.

Chairman of the MARSUG group, Philip Taulelei, based in Jakarta as MCL Risk Management Advisor for Exxonmobil, has a long history in security. Philip comments: "MARSUG is a great environment to have like-minded people together talking through the issues, sharing ideas and coming up with solutions for each others' problems. It is definitely an ideal environment for security professionals in the mining sector to get together and nut out issues."

Gallagher Security Management Systems has significant experience in the Mining and Resources sector with more than 80 sites throughout the world. The next MARSUG meeting is scheduled on 1 and 2 May 2008, IBIS Hotel Melbourne, Australia.
