Established for over ten years in Australia, Boddingtons can also supply a full range of extruded plastic mesh and tape products, including safety barrier tapes and meshes, industrial warning tapes, grass reinforcement mesh and horticultural nets.

Polyethylene plastic tapes

Boddingtons has available ex-stock of a vast range of underground warning tapes, safety barrier and industrial warning tapes. This allows us to offer fast and reliable delivery throughout Australia.

We can also manufacture the tape to your desired colour, text, width and lengths required to meet individual customer requirements.

We can print on plastic films up to 1,200mm wide in thicknesses ranging from 70µm up to 200µm. Using our flexographic printing presses, we print on one or two sides in up to three colours.

Underground warning tapes

UTILITAPE™ underground warning tapes are coloured polyethylene tapes printed with a warning message to identify underground pipes and cables to Australian and New Zealand standards.

Boddingtons’s underground warning tapes are manufactured to the Australian and New Zealand standard AS/NZS 2648.1:1995. These tapes have the following characteristics:

• Manufactured from virgin-grade, low-density polyethylene film with lead-free pigments
• Soil tolerance from pH 2.5 to pH 11 inclusive

Standard underground warning tapes for common pipeline and cable services are available ex-stock. UTILITAPE can also be manufactured with any text, in any language, colour and size according to your requirements.

Detectable underground warning tapes

WAVELAY® is a detectable polyethylene underground warning tape that incorporates one stainless-steel tracer wire for the marking and location of buried pipes and cables. The detectable tracer tape can be used in conjunction with electronic cable and pipe location devices to determine the position of plastic and non-metallic pipes as well as non-live cables.

WAVELAY polyethylene underground warning tape is manufactured using a 0.7mm AISI 316 grade stainless-steel tracer wire laid in a wave pattern throughout the length of the tape. The wave pattern allows the wire to stretch by over 25% before breaking and provides enhanced detectability.

Underground warning mesh

UTILINET™ underground warning mesh is a virgin, rot-resistant polypropylene mesh supplied in 100mm, 200mm and 300mm widths for marking underground pipes and cables. The brightly coloured plastic mesh has a plastic top tape with a warning message identifying the type of underground service.

UTILINET warning mesh is installed in the service trench during backfill, halfway between the pipe / cable and the surface to ensure that a rogue excavation will hit the warning mesh before the pipe or cable. This will enable the excavation to be aborted or be continued with safely.

Detectable underground warning mesh

DETECTAMESH® detectable mesh is manufactured from high-strength, virgin, coloured, rot-resistant polypropylene plastic mesh incorporating a 0.7mm AISI 316 grade stainless-steel tracer wire and laminated with a printed warning tape on the top surface.

DETECTAMESH can be used in conjunction with an electronic cable and pipe locators for precisely locating plastic pipes and non-live cables in future excavations.

Pipe wrap mesh for surface protection of ductile iron and steel pipes

ROCKSHIELD™ mesh is wrapped around the outside of an underground ductile iron or steel pipe to prevent surface damage to the pipes anti-corrosion coating. This damage may occur where pipelines are buried underground in rocky soil conditions.

Boddingtons’ ROCKSHIELD is manufactured from high-density polyethylene, which is chemically inert and rot resistant. The open mesh structure allows the flow of water and therefore does not interfere with the pipeline's cathodic protection coating.

Heavy duty mesh for underground pipe and cable protection

PROTECTAMESH™ provides additional protection for underground pipes and cables against unauthorised excavation or digging. It is buried halfway between the ground surface and the buried service so the digging unit will make contact with the mesh before the pipe or cable.

PROTECTAMESH is manufactured from high-density polyethylene, which has high-impact resistance and an average tensile strength of 100N per filament. It is supplied in bright colours in 50m rolls in various widths to suit all trenches sizes.
