Assetivity

Assetivity - Equipment Specification / Design and Operations Management Services

Assetivity is a specialist management consulting company that assists companies in the mining, mineral-processing and other resources industries to improve the return on their investment in physical assets, through improved engineering and operational management. We bring a unique blend of management, engineering, and organisational development expertise to generate sustainable, bottom-line improvements in organisational performance. Our holistic approach ensures that organisational strategy, structure and culture; people and skills; business processes and technologies all align and work synergistically to generate forward momentum.

We focus on generating sustainable improvements in business processes, skills and culture in the five key areas that impact on operational performance:

  • Equipment specification and design
  • Equipment installation and commissioning
  • Operations management
  • Maintenance
  • Supply

EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATION AND DESIGN

The time at which decisions can have the greatest long-term impact on total lifecycle costs (and therefore profits) is during the design and configuration phase for any project. Decisions are often made at this stage of the project that have long-term detrimental impacts on the total cost of ownership of equipment, and on equipment productivity and capacity. Assetivity works closely with its clients, and their project engineers, to ensure that management systems, processes and rewards are established which encourage informed decision making during the design phase of any project, to ensure that these decisions are taken in the best interests of the organisation as a whole, and with full knowledge and appreciation of the impact of these decisions on future operations and maintenance activities.

EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING

Frequently, when new equipment is handed over to operations, operations is not ready to accept it. The necessary documentation is not available, or is not in a format that can be readily used by operations; routine maintenance programs are not in place; equipment structures and hierarchies have not yet been fully loaded into ERP and maintenance management systems and training is inadequate. Assetivity works with clients to ensure that all activities required for true operational readiness have been performed and that these activities are planned and actioned in a timely manner.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

Complex processing operations, such as mining and mineral work, are far more effective and productive when they are operated in steady-state conditions. Assetivity works with its clients to ensure that operating policies and guidelines, operating procedures, skills, operating culture and disciplines are all in place to permit operation of the plant with precision and discipline. The reward is highly productive equipment and people.

MAINTENANCE

One of the keys to unlocking profits is to ensure ongoing plant and equipment reliability. We assist clients to apply solid engineering technology and establish sound and disciplined business processes to integrate maintenance and operations plans and schedules, as well as to predict, prevent and progressively eliminate the causes of equipment failures, including those caused through human error and organisational factors. The returns on investment in this area are often enormous.

SUPPLY

Improvements in all of the other areas can amount to nothing if they are not supported by procurement, contracting and inventory management functions that are set up to effectively support the remainder of the organisation. We work closely with clients to ensure that "go to market" strategies are appropriate, that procurement decisions are made based not only on price, but on informed knowledge of the impact of quality of products and services on the bottom line. We work with clients to ensure that the correct quantities of the right parts - with the optimum quality - are located at the correct locations and adequately cared for. This has an immediate and lasting effect on bottom-line organisational performance.
