McNeall Plastics is a manufacturer of industrial plastics, AustLon® and Austane® being its trademark brands. We are not simply a reseller of plastics like many other plastics suppliers.
McNeall Plastics is the sole manufacturer of AustLon cast nylon in Australia. Austlon has a reputation for outperforming other industrial plastics, and is common in many demanding applications requiring any combination of high load-bearing capacity, low coefficient of friction, weight savings and good environmental and chemical resistance.
Our range of cast nylon products comprises the preferred industrial plastics in the mining, construction, transport, food and pharmaceutical industries.
McNeall's product offerings include cast nylon sheets, rods, tube, nylon sheaves, sleaves, bushes, custom-cast components and other engineering plastic products.
AustLon is a high-grade engineering plastic manufactured exclusively by McNeall Plastics.
A monomer cast nylon, AustLon is produced by a unique process known as activated anionic adiabatic polymerisation. This method of nylon production results in a highly crystalline engineering plastic, which means a tougher, wear-resistant engineering plastic. AustLon is the preferred material where issues stemming from abrasive wear, impact strength, bearing strength, noise, weight and corrosion have been difficult to resolve.
AustLon has gained widespread acceptance as a practical alternative in applications where metals have traditionally been used. It has proven to be a successful replacement to metal components including bushes, sheaves, rollers and wear pads.
Engineering drawings will often specify particular engineering plastics brands. McNeall Plastics manufactures a range of engineering plastic products that are equivalent to or outperform these brands.
Austane is a high-tech engineering elastomer with a special combination of physical and chemical properties, as well as unsurpassed mechanical properties. These include exceptional resistance to abrasion and tear propagation, low compression set and extreme resilience in dynamic load applications.
There are various grades of hardness which are produced according to specific job requirements. Even the hardest grades have high elongation at break and rebound resilience.
Austane is produced by a special hot-casting process. It can be cast manually or by machine in open moulds. Austane can be made to adhere firmly to a variety of base materials, such as metals and polyamides.
Thus, from the specific mix of raw materials to casting the end product, Austane is custom-made to suit the particular application. It is a new engineering solution to problems in mechanical engineering, plant equipment and contemporary technological fields.
A modern specialist plant, precise specifications and stringent quality control ensures a consistently high-quality product.
We have a large range of standard tube (hollow bar), rod, plate and block material.
We also provide machining services for industrial plastics. Customers can send us a sketch, or send a sample, or discuss an idea with our engineering staff and we will produce suitable tolerance drawings for component manufacture in industrial plastics.
Our engineering staff can provide design assistance when developing ideas.
AustLon is manufactured in several types and grades for different applications. It is wear resistant, tough and offers seven-times weight savings compared to steel; so it has appeal in applications where manual handling is an issue to assembling parts previously made of steel or other metals.
We provide an Australian alternative to overseas-sourced OEM parts made from industrial plastics.
McNeall Plastics cast nylon products can be found in almost every industry. We offer:
