Gekko Systems specializes in the design, development and distribution of innovative mineral processing equipment and systems with a particular focus on gravity separation. Long term relationships based on trust and mutual benefit, and an emphasis on innovation, are the cornerstones of the company's philosophy.
Gekko seeks low cost, quality solutions to metallurgical problems. Improving environmental outcomes from mineral processing is a focus. Gravity separation provides opportunities to lower costs and improve the environmental profile of mineral processing. Maximising recovery through gravity separation by creating a high-grade stream of concentrates for preferential treatment is a significant conceptual platform to help achieve these objectives. Gravity separation also has an important function in the efficient removal of waste.
Equipment has been installed worldwide to recover sulfides, free gold, native copper, silver, tin, tantalum, garnet and diamonds. Applications also exist for coal, mineral sands, magnetite, iron ore recovery, and platinum group minerals.
The InLine Leach Reactor (ILR) has been used to increase recoveries of both free gold and sulphide related gold. In all installations of the ILR to date, significant increases in total recoveries have been achieved. This reflects the ILR's very fast leach kinetics and capacity to leach coarse and high-grade gold concentrates.
Using batch centrifugal concentrators to recover free gold from grinding circuits has become standard practice. Traditionally concentrates from these separations are upgraded by shaking tables. Replacing the tables with an ILR significantly improves recoveries and lowers the security risks generally associated with gravity circuits. The fast leach kinetics and aggressive chemical conditions of the ILR have also been shown to limit the impact of sulphide minerals such as stibnite, pyrrhotite and pyrites in complex sulphide gold. Accordingly, the ILR offers potential to significantly increase overall mill recoveries.
The InLine Pressure Jig (IPJ) is a high yield, high recovery gravity separation device. It has been successfully installed in both alluvial and hard rock applications. Significant advantages have been achieved in grinding circuits where coarse heavy minerals or waste material have been recovered for preferential treatment prior to over grinding. Typically units are installed in the recirculating load with IPJ feed consisting of up to 14mm mill discharge or cyclone underflow. IPJs are also installed in alluvial operations as primary and secondary recovery units.
The InLine Spinner is a fully automated centrifugal concentrator which has been installed to: upgrade InLine Pressure Jig concentrates, scavenge centrifugal concentrator and table tails, and as a primary concentrator. The InLine Spinner is a zero water consumption bowl. The bowl is fully automated for high recovery, high upgrade and high security. The InLine Spinner offers significant operational and capital cost advantages.
Gekko has a team of skilled process engineers, chemists and metallurgists capable of designing gravity separation process solutions appropriate to individual applications. Gekko focuses on designing full gravity modules for grinding circuits or alluvial mining systems. Manufacture and assembly of modular components can be managed in-house, utilizing skilled engineering staff and a network of key suppliers. The Modular Plant designs focus on automation, improving security and flexibility. Modules are skid mounted and pre-commissioned at the Gekko factory before being dismantled into components ready for quick and easy re-assembly on site.
Gekko is a specialist in the design of gravity and intensive leach / cyanide test work programs. Determining the recovery of minerals at their liberation size, grade recovery and size recovery relationships, as well as recovery of auriferous minerals through intensive leach work are the company’s area of expertise.
Gekko also specializes in on-site auditing and survey work on all types of gravity installations. A full mass balance is developed around the gravity circuit to allow optimization and an improved understanding of the operation. Gekko has also coordinated and undertaken successful research programs to resolve complex recovery issues. Gekko provide innovative process routes and recommendations where traditional flowsheets have not proven successful.
