Weir Minerals has been a global leader in the design, manufacture, installation and servicing of equipment and solutions for the mining, sand and aggregates industries for almost a century.
The company specialises in delivering and supporting slurry equipment solutions including pumps, hydrocyclones, valves, screen machines and screen media, rubber and wear-resistant linings for global mining and mineral processing.
Weir Minerals stock a wide range of screening equipment under the Linatex® Screens brand. For more than 80 years, Linatex has grown to encompass a diverse range of products and services. With Weir Minerals' global engineering, manufacturing and sales infrastructure behind them, Linatex Screens will be a major supplier in the vibrating screen market worldwide.
Well suited and proven for heavy-duty applications in the sand and aggregates, mining and minerals processing industries, Linatex dewatering screens have been operating successfully for more than 40 years.
The 45º sloping back deck section was pioneered on the Linatex dewatering screen. It is fitted with slotted apertures across the direction of flow on the screen media to allow incoming slurry to be fed uniformly along the top of this back section and to act as a vibrating drainage panel.
The main deck of the screen slopes upwards and is typically fitted with slotted apertures. At the lowest point of the screen, where the sloping back and main deck meet, a pool of partially dewatered slurry forms. Here, solid particles bridge over the apertures and form a partially dewatered cake. This cake then acts as a filter bed, ensuring that almost no fine particles pass through. The vibrating action conveys the cake along the screen deck where further dewatering takes place. The cake is discharged over the adjustable weir plate into the product chute.
Vibration is produced by vibrating motors which can be run at different speeds depending on the application. Alternatively, geared exciters with an external drive motor can be fitted to the larger screens. The design allows for easy adjustment of the amplitude of vibration, deck inclination, as well as the discharge weir plate. A high solids recovery is achieved when the screen underflow is kept in closed circuit with a hydrocyclone and the only solid losses occurring would be the very fine material exiting in the cyclone overflow.
A new generation in screening equipment innovation, Linatex's HD dewatering screen range has been designed to ensure maximum efficiency. Using the latest screen design technology and finite element analysis, the range has been engineered to meet the rigorous demands of the mining and minerals processing industries.
The Linatex HD dewatering screen range has an innovative curved, sieve bend-like feed section, which increases the screening area and the dewatering capacities, using centrifugal force to aid in the dewatering process. The main deck of the screen slopes upwards to maximise solids retention and dewater the cake bed.
The Linatex Banana or multi-slope screen is capable of achieving exceptional throughput per screening area. The screen is a high-capacity, thin layer and high-velocity machine, and may include any number of deck slopes from two to as many as six, varying from 45º through to horizontal on the last slope. All of the various slopes may also incorporate deck media with different apertures to meet the particular process requirements.
Banana screens, which vary in size from 1.8m wide to over 4m wide, are commonly designed to fit modular polyurethane deck panels. Depending on requirements, woven wire or punch plate may also be used. Screens are also available in a double deck arrangement which reduces the number of equivalent horizontal single deck units installed.
A linear motion and large vibration amplitude with high screen acceleration make Linatex banana screens suitable for many varied size classification applications. These features also reduce the incidence of blinding and pegging. Common applications for this screen type include:
Having been manufactured since the 1970s, Linatex horizontal screens have met the needs of modern high-capacity production plants by reducing the number of machines installed or production modules required. The introduction of our screens leads to improved plant availability, space savings, energy savings and greatly improved materials handling.
