Parker Hannifin - Nitrogen Generation Systems

Parker-Hannifin supplies non-cryogenic nitrogen (N2) generators, used for inerting coal mine seals in abandoned or worked-out mines and as a fire-extinguishing gas for underground coal mine fires.

Containerized nitrogen membrane systems are available for onsite inert gas generation, as well as Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) systems for stationary nitrogen injection requirements or high purity nitrogen generation for critical processes within the general mining industry. We manufacture our own membrane fibers, air compression filters, and membrane dryers, so you can be assured of the highest quality from every Parker system.

AIR SEPARATION MEMBRANES

The heart of our N2 membrane generator systems is the Parker Hi-Fluxx polymeric membrane fiber, which selectively separates nitrogen molecules from oxygen molecules because of their different permeation and diffusivity rates across the highly selective skin of membrane fiber. Parker membranes have the highest productivity of nitrogen gas production per membrane surface area, allowing our membranes to operate at lower pressures with fewer membranes.

Our membrane systems are routinely configured in standard shipping containers to facilitate convenient shipment and utilization at the mining site. The nitrogen systems are completely self-contained and require only a small electrical load for instrumentation requirements. All air pre-treatment, dehydration (if needed), air separation and nitrogen process control with full instrumentation is provided in a weatherized container with internal operator station.

AIR PRE-TREATMENT SYSTEMS

Parker Hannifin is a world leader in the manufacture of compressed air filters, pressure regulators, tube fittings, and membrane air dryers to mention a few, and all these components are engineering into our air pre-treatment systems. Proper air pre-treatment is the key to long nitrogen membrane life, and we can either build our systems for years of reliable service with feed air from your oil-lubricated feed air compressor or supply a dedicated air compressor matched to the desired nitrogen production requirement.

CUSTOMISED NITROGEN FLOW RATES

Whether you need low flow rates for inerting mine seals, or higher flow rates for fire extinguishing, there is a portable system designed to do the job. In fact, there is virtually no restriction on plant capacity, so even abandoned coal mine fires may be candidates for systems designed for stationary long-term nitrogen injection.

NITROGEN PRESSURE SWING ADSORPTION SYSTEMS

Higher purity requirements can be met with Parker Hannifin’s nitrogen PSA systems, which supply nitrogen at purities of 99.99+%, another of our non-cryogenic nitrogen technologies.
