JOEST Australia, the sole Australian agent for mixing and grinding equipment in the mining industry, has completed the manufacture of five tower mills on time.
For the production of high-grade magnetite, Nippon Eirich of Narita-city, Japan, has supplied Karara Mining Limited (KML) with five units of their KW-1500 tower mill, for the fine grinding of iron ore down to 35µ. Each tower mill is equipped with a main drive motor with 1.12MW of installed power, and improved wear liners to increase service life and reduce operating costs.
The KML iron ore project is Gindalbie Metals' cornerstone project in the mid-west region of Western Australia. Gindalbie is developing Karara through a 50:50 joint venture with Chinese steel producer, AnSteel. Karara will deliver some 10Mtpa of iron products from 2010, comprising 8Mtpa of high-grade magnetite concentrate and blast furnace quality pellets and 2Mtpa of direct shipping ore (DSO) hematite.
The KML tower mills, completed in March 2010, were manufactured in Japan and Australia. This complements Eirich's recent delivery of another five units of the KW-1500 tower mill for iron ore grinding in Asia.
Nippon Eirich is part of the international Eirich Group with its headquarters based in Hardheim, Germany. The Eirich Group specialises in industrial mixing and fine grinding equipment, and plant engineering in diverse technical product markets, including mixers for ore pelletising and sinter preparation of up to 1,400t/h.
JOEST Australia, Eirich Group's agent for all mining activities in Australia, will provide customer service and after-sales support for the tower mills at Karara.
