BASF is gearing up for the Crossrail tunnel project in London by doubling the size of its UK tunnel team for MEYCO solutions in order to support the scale of the project and the breadth of its technical portfolio.
MEYCO solutions covers everything from sprayed concrete and equipment to waterproofing, TBM sealing and soil conditioning, admixtures for segments, ground injection and fire protection – all key components of Crossrail’s infrastructure.
The BASF UK tunnel team for MEYCO solutions will be supported by the company’s structure, which includes expert Switzerland-based product specialists who have developed a close connection with the UK market over the years. This will be reinforced on a local level by two teams of technicians based in state-of-the-art laboratories in Manchester and Rochester.
Said BASF project manager Richard Foord: "All our staff have a valued reputation in the industry, and have been instrumental in furthering concrete as a construction medium. The experience that our team members bring will be a major asset to any organisation involved in the construction of this rail system.
This is complemented by BASF’s investment of over 5 million Euros in a new production facility in Manchester to drive the logistics that this project will demand, and to maintain a competitive commercial as well as technical advantage. BASF looks forward to the prospect of partnering very closely with all of its customers, old and new, to construct a quality end product which will stand testament to the Underground industry."
