Rambor - Strata Support and Roof Bolting Machines

Rambor Pty. Ltd. is a designer and manufacturer of strata support and roof bolting machines for the U/G coal mining, tunneling construction and civil construction industries.

The company, based in Australia and a division of PPK Group Limited, manufactures specialized hand-held mining equipment for both the Australian and international markets.

ROOF AND WALL BOLTING MACHINES

Products are designed and manufactured for the strata support and underground coal mining markets where they are used for the installation of roof and wall retention chemical anchor / support bolts. Adoption of this technology for tunneling construction has seen the use of Rambor equipment in many of the major tunneling projects across Australia and overseas.

Machines are driven by either pneumatic or hydraulic power sources.

The products are manufactured from fibre reinforced composites, plastics, ferrous and non-ferrous materials to achieve the best strength to weight ratios possible. This specialized equipment is sold throughout the world with at times up to 80% of sales being to export markets.

The countries where Rambor products are currently being used include Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Japan, India, UK, Germany, CIS/Russia and USA.

CUSTOM BUILT DRILLING MACHINES

Rambor prides itself on its rapid and focused ability to design specific, custom-built drilling machines to suit exact customer specifications and requirements. Recent examples of this include the new spiling rig and the LFD-SM machines.

Rambor has been manufacturing niche market mining equipment for over 25 years and exports worldwide. This unique company focuses on in-house manufacturing of all its specialized products and has ISO 9001 accreditation.

HAND-HELD ROOF BOLTERS

Rambor manufactures several varieties of the 'standard' hand-held roof bolting machines. These are available in either pneumatic or hydraulic versions. And in a variety of styles which include Top Mount (TM), Inverted, Low Rider and King Cobra (KC).

All machines have particular features and benefits, which allow Rambor to supply a machine for practically every application. The range of roof bolting machines extends from a collapsed height of approximately 800mm to an extended height of 4,500mm. Several motor and gearbox combinations are also available depending on the application and power sources.

LONGWALL FACE DRILL (LFD, LFD-SM) AND RDR2

Rambor's Longwall Face Drill (LFD) can either be used mounted off the longwall pans, fitted to QDS baskets, attached to our RDR2 heavy-duty stinger leg or, in the case of the SM version, mounted on the shearer in a longwall panel.

The machine is operated remotely and is used for drilling holes for grout injection into longwall faces or development roads, longwall face support or long hole drilling for water and/or gas drainage. The LFD units come in a variety of sizes with the standard RDR2 unit extending to 3,500mm.

INTELLIGENT TRUSSMASTER - 'SMART' DRILL MACHINE

Rambor have developed, in conjunction with JCOAL, a machine that is fitted with four electrical sensors that measure motor speed, drilling distance, motor torque and leg thrust. By analyzing these sensor values and using developed software, operators are able to determine the geological structure of the drilled medium.

This allows strata specialists to know exactly what type, form and quantity of roof support tendons are required to safely support the structure. This process previously was a complicated exercise or based on subjective/qualitative processes.

The machine is certified as Intrinsically Safe (IS).

SPILING RIG

Rambor was asked to supply a special machine to help an Australian colliery overcome severe face guttering in their development panels. In an extremely short time frame Rambor designed and supplied the 'Spiling Rig'.

The machine drills and installs up to 20 x 2.5m bolts at an approximate angle of 5° to the horizontal into the face at roof level in the area of the possible cavity. This allows the CM to continue cutting and support the roof without any issues of rock or roof falls before face bolting has taken place.

The machine is available in various configurations.
