Specialised grout technology and proven seal design is widely available through the Minova group for improving safety against mine gas explosions. Ruichy Minova has introduced this technology to the Chinese coal industry and has begun installing Tekseal stoppings and seals.

Tekseal is a high volume output, non-combustible foamed cement grout. It is supplied as a specially blended powder and requires only the addition of water through a suitable placing pump to produce a versatile and durable foamed grout. It is mainly used for installing 20 psi permanent and explosion proof seals in mine roadways.

One recent successful installation was at Jining No 2 mine in Shandong province, China. In this case the Tekseal wall was required to remain effective at preventing gas from entering the working area even when exposed to severe roof closure.

The Tekseal barrier at Jining was 3m thick and installed in a road way of dimensions 3m high by 5m wide. The containment was constructed by the mine personnel in a single shift using timber and brattice cloth. Immediately after, the Tekseal pumping was started and the wall filled and completed during the same day. A total of just under 15Te of Tekseal was pumped in a non stop operation using a Minova placer pump.

The benefits of this pumped seal system to the mine are that the seals can be completed very quickly and safely. Under the severe conditions often associated with the Chinese mining environment Tekseal offers a cost effective method for installing permanent barriers.

Ruichy Minova now manufactures a wide range of products for the Chinese mining industry including Tekseal, Tekfoam, Tekflex Carbofill and Bevedol.
