What we sacrificed in terms of profit in the 08/09 fiscal in terms of IP retention, we easily made up for in our capacity to deliver as things have come back on stream.
Commitment to product suite investment
We have strengthened our commitment to investment in the product suite by scheduling next-generation releases in the next 18-24 months, while simultaneously delivering generic upgrades of the core product set during that time. Our combined development team exceeds 20 people. We have also invested in 14 months of detailed self-executed market research in terms of delivering what the market has stated it wants from solutions in this space.
We are also seeing that in the downturn many of our competitors lost key development personnel and generally took their foot off the gas in terms of product development.
Additionally, some firms are charging full consulting rates for newer staff to deliver consulting services. In many cases a number of these people are still skilling up in the specific domain at the expense of the client organisation. Given the consultative nature of some of these business models, the client often finds themselves held to ransom by the vendor in terms of ongoing use or report generation, for example.

The mid and junior market has come to realise this more and more in the last 12 months, with many of acQuire's latest wins coming from firms that would have deemed it an enterprise application and not for them. These educated firms realise that 'cheap' might just mean exactly that.
