Mono Pumps - Progressing Cavity PumpsMono® manufacture progressing cavity pumps, grinders and screens and offers a wide product range capable of handling a diverse variety of liquids, even those containing suspended solids and abrasive particles. Accommodating a wide range of heads and flow rates, the Mono pump is ideally suited to the demands of the mining and mineral processing industry. Combined with this is the extensive experience from over 65 years of operating within a broad scope of industrial applications, including water and waste water, oilfield exploration and recovery, pulp and paper, food and beverage, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. THE MONO PROGRESSING CAVITY PRINCIPLEThe heart of the Mono pump is the rotor and stator. As the single helix rotor revolves eccentrically within the double helix of the stator, a continuous cavity is formed and progresses towards the discharge end of the pump as the rotor rotates. The progressing cavity principle offers many benefits for a wide range of applications and particularly where difficult substances are involved, such as that experienced in mining and mineral processing. MINING AND MINERAL PROCESSING APPLICATIONSThis area includes applications involved in mining various minerals such as gold, silver, copper, nickel and coal as well as the processing of the minerals extracted. Mono has extensive experience in mine dewatering applications worldwide and has significant involvement in mineral processing in Australia. Typical applications include:
PRODUCT RANGEThere are in excess of 120 pump models in the Mono range. The following products are particularly relevant for the mining and mineral processing industry. INDUSTRIAL E RANGEThis is the flagship of the range and is the flexible alternative offering an unrivalled cost of ownership in the progressing cavity pump market and has a range capacity of up to 420 m³/h and pressure to 72 bar. Utilised extensively in mine dewatering, slurry and explosive emulsion pumping, the E range is fitted with the unique flexible drive shaft known as the "Flexishaft®" (with a 5 year warranty). This shaft allows the transmission of the radial torque and axial thrust imparted on a progressing cavity pump to be conveyed from the drive element to the pumping element. DEVELOPMENTS FOR MINING & MINERAL PROCESSINGOngoing product development has led to a selection of E Range pump models with the following modifications. These have been designed specifically to suit typical mining industry requirements, particularly mine dewatering applications where pumps may operate under abrasive and corrosive conditions.
MONOBLOC® B RANGEThis range has been developed for markets where value for money and economy of space are paramount. The drive forms an integral part of the unit and incorporates technology that is proven and well accepted by both contractors and end users. WIDETHROAT W RANGEWith capacities to 215m³/h and pressures to 48 bar, the widethroat range has been developed to handle materials with viscosities up to 1,000,000 cP. The option of an integral bridge breaker and / or large diameter auger allows dry solids approaching 40% to be pumped. LOW FLOW RANGESIn addition to the above industrial pumps there is a wide range of low flow pumps suitable for transfer duties and dosing applications, with capacities to 600 l/h and pressures to 12 bar. DURACOAT RANGE OF ROTOR COATINGSExtensive experience and research has also led to the development of a range of rotor coatings, Duracoat, which have been tailored to meet the requirements of the application. The most recent innovation is Duracoat 3000, specifically developed for highly abrasive conditions, such as stone slurries, mine water and cement slurry grout. Intensive in-house testing and field trial applications have proven that Duracoat 3000 significantly extends the life of the rotor. This leads to major benefits from a maintenance perspective, including reduced costs, less downtime and improved predictability. Mono Pumps Ltd is strongly positioned to support customers worldwide with manufacturing facilities in the UK, USA and Australia, a distribution centre in New Zealand and an integrated network of independent distributors. Mono is committed to ensuring the highest levels of service and quality, this is reflected in the achievement of ISO 9001: 2000 certification, the first manufacturer of progressing cavity pumps to achieve the upgraded quality management system standard.
