Australian Rollforming's reputation for manufacturing excellence has been formally recognised with its induction into the prestigious Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame at a gala dinner held recently at the Palladium in the Crown Casino, Melbourne, Australia.

Presenting the awards at the Gala Dinner, the Victorian Minister for Manufacturing, Exports and Trade, Richard Dalla-Riva said Australian Rollforming had developed an enviable international reputation.

"Australian Rollforming Manufacturers is widely regarded as one of the world's leading edge companies providing custom special sections metal rollforming," Dalla-Riva said.

Each year the Company rollforms over one million metres of metal, which finds its way into constructions as diverse as the Goro Nickel Mine in New Caledonia to the high density, sound deadening noise wall panels used along the Deer Park Bypass in Victoria - the project for which the Company was awarded the prestigious 2010 Endeavour Award for Australian Steel Innovation.

Australian Rollforming's strength in the rail industry is also evidenced by provision of stainless steel components for 130 passenger carriages being manufactured by Bombardier Transportation Australia for Victoria's VLocity train project. Rollformed rail rolling stock components are also supplied to Queensland Rail, EDI Goninan and Bradken whilst electrostatic collector plates have been commissioned for the Alcoa Refinery, Loy Yang Power Station and Cockburn Cement.

Since acquiring the BHP Lysaght Special Sections Business equipment and intellectual property in 2003, Australian Rollforming has assembled and modified more than 1300 profiles and designs to meet international market demands. The Company's work with leading architectural firms and property developers in Melbourne on the development of rollformed steel sections for modular high-rise developments is expected to provide a 30% reduction in materials used and to generate on-site construction time savings of around 50%.

Dalla-Riva also congratulated the Company on its experimental work with Deakin University and Germany's Data-M and early successes in the development of a new light-weight steel beam, which is 20% lighter than traditional beams.

The Victorian manufacturing Hall of Fame recognises the ground breaking achievements of individuals and companies within Victoria's manufacturing sector, which contributes more than $30 billion in gross state product and employs over 300,000 people.
