Moran Mining & Tunnelling (MMT) is a privately-held underground mining contractor with its headquarters in Lively, Ontario. The company specializes in mine construction work, mine development, mine rehabilitation, shaft sinking and Alimak and conventional raising.

SURFACE AND DRIFT MINING SPECIALIST

MMT is a highly experienced surface and drift mining contractor. Surface mining involves extracting deposits of mineral resources that are close to the surface. In most forms of surface mining, heavy equipment such as earthmovers first have to remove the overburden (the soil and rock above the deposit).

Drift mining is a method of accessing valuable geological material, such as coal, by cutting into the side of the earth, rather than tunnelling straight downwards.

RAISE MINING

MMT's Founder and President, John Moran, is a raise mining specialist. In 1969, John started raise mining as a labourer and progressed to the roles of wingman, leader, project superintendent, area manager and finally President and CEO of his own company. John has consulted and provided employee training to major companies such as INCO Limited and Miramar Mining Corporation on raise mining projects.

MINING EQUIPMENT RENTAL

Mine Equipment Resources Inc. has been in business since 1994, dealing in heavy equipment and mining machinery. Our business is well known for the quality of our work and reconditioning capability in our 20,000ft² shop.

Mine Equipment Resources is experienced in buying and selling equipment throughout the world. Primarily, our inventory consists of under ground equipment. MMT can handle track and trackless projects of all sizes thanks to our dynamic contract mining equipment.

MORAN FABRICATING

With over 20,000ft² of fabrication space, Moran Fabricating specializes in structural steel, chutes, grizzlies, shaft work stages, shaft steel, manways and miscellaneous steel structures. Moran Fabricating is both CWB- and ISO 9002 certified. Our shop is equipped with four overhead cranes, shearer, press break and an ironworker. We detail our own structural steel in house.
