ZZM - Kopex Group Increases the Influence in the Russian Mining Sector

Contract one after another.
On December 20, 2006 KOPEX concluded another contract during the last few days. This time the said contract concerns the Russian market.
The mechanized roof support produced by Machinery and Equipment Factory "TAGOR" belonging to the ZZM-KOPEX GROUP will be delivered to the OAO 7 Noiabria mining company. This company will buy also hydraulic feed engines. The value of this contract is Euro 17 427 000 ( PLN 66 269 000) and the contract will be realized by May 1, 2007.
The mine with which KOPE singed the said agreement belongs to the Siberian Coal Energy Company ( the SUEK). The SUEK is the Russian largest mining company and the only one Russian company among ten mining complexes in the world. In the first 10 months of 2006 the SUEK produced 63.4 million tons of coal ( for comparison the total Polish coal production amounted to 93 million tons in 2005).

We confirm that the good references from the cooperation with the SUEK will be helpful while getting other contracts in Russia.”- Marek Mika, the vice -president of KOPEX SA says.
The ZZM-KOPEX GROUP systematically strengthens the position as the recognized mining equipment producer for the Russian mining sector. In 2006 two top modern longwall shearers with electric drive were produced by Zabrzañskie Mechanical Works – ZZM SA.
In this cooperation with Yurginskyi Mashzavod basing on Tagor documentation mechanized roof supports are produced. ”TAGOR” provides legs whereas the Russians produce steel structures. Yurginskyi Mashzavod belongs to the Yushkuzbassugol coal mining complex producing 75 million ton of coal yearly where no tenders for machinery are arranged and the equipment is bought directly from the best producers.
The ZZM-KOPEX Group plans to act as a general contractor for Russia. The investment prospects are huge there. “TAGOR” itself may install some new longwalls in these mines on the year bases.
There are plans to increase the export to some other countries in the world i.e. to China, India, the USA, Australia and Argentina. The last time Kopex has signed the contract with the foreign client for the equipment delivery of USD 75 million value (PLN 216 million). It is the record - breaking contract that the Company concluded during the last years in the international markets.
