The company and its affiliates are active at more than 20 underground nickel, gold, tantalite, copper, zinc and lead mines in Australia and overseas, playing a vital role in the profitable operation of these sites by:

• Developing more than 55km per year using jumbo, raisedrilling, boxhole drilling and shaft sinking techniques
• Completing over 450,000 longhole drilled metres a year
• Mining in excess of 3,000,000t of ore per year using sub-level caving, longhole open stoping and mechanised flat back cut and fill
• Installing more than 450,000 rockbolts and cable bolts, and spraying over 25,000m³ of fibrecrete per year

CONTRACT UNDERGROUND MINING – THE TOTAL APPROACH

In nearly all cases our scope of work takes the form of full development and production contracts whereby Byrnecut provide the full complement of men, equipment and materials to develop the orebody and mine the ore on the owner’s behalf. This arrangement provides the mine owner with relatively known costs going forward, minimal exposure to capital equipment costs, virtual elimination of industrial relations issues and a high degree of flexibility. The mine owner can gear up or down within a short period of time without cost penalties due to our ability to mobilize or demobilize our men and equipment. In some case we have life of mine contracts.

MINE PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Byrnecut Mining has developed a project management expertise and support system, which is capable of handling a variety of mining projects from initial feasibility to final production.

MINE DEVELOPMENT CAPABILITIES

With our experience gained from current and completed contracts and tight control over operating costs we are confident that we can be very cost effective on any decline, shaft sink, level development or raising operation.

MINE PRODUCTION CAPABILITY

All members of Byrnecut Mining's management and technical staff have had development and production experience from a hands-on level to a management level at producing mines. This experience ranges from hand-held narrow vein stoping to highly-mechanised long-hole open stoping and caving techniques.

MINE REHABILITATION WORK

Byrnecut Mining is experienced in shaft and mine de-watering, re-establishment of abandoned workings, shaft repair and refurbishment and rehabilitation of underground workings.

DIAMOND DRILLING CONTRACTING

Byrnecut Mining have the latest energy sufficient electric hydraulic underground diamond drilling rigs to carry out underground exploration.

SHOTCRETING

Byrnecut Mining holds a controlling interest in Jetcrete Australia Pty Ltd. (JA). JA is a large shotcreting group carrying out work in the civil and mining sector.

RAISE BORING AND SHAFT SINKING

The Byrnecut Group have very efficient raise boring drilling rigs, boxhole boring and shaft sinking equipment for all underground mining operations. Currently Byrnecut is sinking the 1,000m by 6.5m diameter concrete lined shaft at the Telfer gold mine in Western Australia. This followed on from the 1,000m shaft sunk at the Bulyanhulu gold mine in Tanzania and, prior to that, the 700m deep internal shaft at Mt Isa's deep copper project.

INTERNATIONAL CONTRACT MINING DIVISION

In 1999 Byrnecut Mining established an international division to continue the expansion of the company. Byrnecut Mining International Ltd has been successful in securing a number of contacts and is able to offer clients a wide range of mining solutions. The international division is able to perform both underground and open-pit mining activities.
