Promoting its members' capabilities, Austmine showcases new technological developments, and connects to decision makers and influencers in the resources sector globally.  Whether large or small, internationally experienced or new to export, members are committed to providing world-class solutions which assist mining companies around the world to maintain safe, highly productive, sustainably profitable and environmentally responsible operations. 

Global mining opportunities

Austmine monitors developments in offshore markets, new mine projects and industry trends through government allies, an active program of trade missions, meetings with mining companies to learn about offshore expansion plans, and collating and linking to a range of secondary sources.  Members are informed of these opportunities through the company website, its quarterly produced Export News publication, and at networking events and through trade mission participation.

The company is actively working in Russia, Africa, Central Asia and Latin America to keep its members informed of the latest mining developments and increasing their chances to capture supply opportunities with new and existing mining projects. Recent private briefings and visits to offshore projects include Rio Tinto and Vale in Mozambique.

International promotion of Australian mining equipment, technology and services

Regularly participating in overseas trade exhibitions, Austmine offers its members a cost-effective way to raise their profile internationally. Members have the option to exhibit in their own stand or combine with others to leverage contacts and make savings. Often Austmine will promote a number of companies through virtual representation.

Austmine's quarterly Export News, which is sent to over 1,000 international contacts, is a powerful tool in showcasing its members and providing exposure to overseas mining companies. The key focus of Export News is to promote awareness of the world's best innovation and technologies available from Austmine members.

Reference directory for mining executives

Austmine's annual directory has become an essential reference for mining executives, procurement offices and purchasing divisions.  The Austmine directory is available in hard copy, CD or can be found on the Austmine website, and contains a comprehensive listing of members including company profiles, product listings and key contacts. The directory is distributed at tradeshows and international exhibitions either directly, by government or other industry partners.

Mining conference and exhibition

Staged every two years, the Austmine Conference and Exhibition is a much-anticipated industry event attracting a range of mining companies, METS suppliers and international visitors to discuss the latest trends in mining technology and innovation. 

Along with a complete conference program, there is a technology exhibition which allows companies to showcase their products and services. The Conference Dinner is a highlight of the calendar year at which the Craig Sanger Award for excellence in export is presented.

The 2011 conference in Brisbane attracted a range of high levels speakers including representatives from BHP, Rio Tinto, Vale, Newmont Mining and Xstrata Copper. The next Austmine Conference and Exhibition will be held in 2013 in Perth.

Austmine has built up strong contacts with key decision makers and influencers in the mining industry. Through the contacts of our Board members to regular meetings with mining executives, Austmine is continually working to cement relationships with the government and key mining players which are used to drive commercial opportunities to its wider membership base.

Representing the METS sector to government, both in Australia and overseas, Austmine ensures its members have the best opportunity possible to succeed offshore. From free trade agreements to innovative industry collaboration programs, Austmine has continual dialogue with government at the highest levels.  Austmine provides thought leadership on innovation and the future of manufacturing in Australia, and actively works to shape programs and policies to advance the interests of the Australian METS sector.
