ELECTRO SHEAR® OIL SHEAR MOTOR BRAKES

Electro Shear is proven and reliable in the toughest industrial applications. Originally developed for the rigorous stops and starts of automotive transfer lines, the Electro Shear oil shear motor brake outlasts and outperforms typical dry friction brakes by utilizing industry leading oil shear brake technology.

Electro Shear is a fully electric, three-phase AC released brake that delivers precise control, repeatable stopping power and quick response time in the harshest environments. The brake is a totally enclosed unit, filled with automatic transmission fluid and is impervious to outside dirt, dust and contaminants.

Torque is transferred through the viscous shearing of oil between the multiple friction-disc surfaces, resulting in very little friction disc wear. A continuous oil flow within the unit lubricates and cools the discs, allowing the heat build-up from braking engagement to dissipate through the cast aluminium housing. Electro Shear brakes last typically ten times longer than standard dry friction disc brakes due to the oil shear design and specially formulated advanced composite friction material.
