The continuous excavation, mining and handling of materials and minerals is the focus of Sandvik Mining and Construction Materials Handling's activities in the area of open pit mining. Sandvik supplies specialized equipment and plants for the efficient and continuous excavation and transport of large volumes of minerals and other bulk materials. For further downstream processing of these minerals and other bulk materials, Sandvik provides conveying, lifting and transportation equipment including stockyard storing, homogenisation and reclamation. For ports and bulk terminals Sandvik can supply all types of ship loading and ship unloading facilities.

The range of products for the mining industry includes bucket wheel excavators, beltwagons, spreaders, conveying systems, transport crawlers, hopper and cable reel cars and auxiliary equipment.

For bulk material handling Sandvik offers all types of stackers, reclaimers (bucket wheel and scraper type), combined stacker / reclaimers for longitudinal and circular stockpiles and covered storage (sheds or domes).

For ports and terminals Sandvik provides a complete range of bulk ship-loaders, grab type and continuous type ship-unloaders.
