Tefco Engineering have been providing the mining industry with design and manufacture services for conveyor pulleys and components for more than 16 years. Their products and services include:
Conveyor pulley e-engineering capabilityTefco Engineering have in-house staff capable of designing conveyor pulleys, sheaves, bearing housings, winches and couplings of every type and description. We employ mechanical engineers with solid modeling, Inventor CAD and Ansys finite element analysis capability to assist with component design. Pulley manufacturingOver the last few years, Tefco Engineering have undertaken an extensive re-equipment program, which has broadened our capabilities to offer larger contract CNC machining capacity to complement our traditional business. We have established the most modern pulley manufacturing facility in the world, which covers 1,800m² on one acre of land at West Gosford. We have the knowledge and equipment to do a large variety of complex CNC machining work and have close relationships with various foundries and forging companies to provide feed material. Our pricing is very competitive and we offer a personalised prompt estimating service. Manufacture is performed under our quality assurance system, which conforms to the requirements of ISO9001. Our normal protocol is to provide inspection and test plans (ITPs) for all machined components. Material traceability procedures are in place where required by our clients. Documents are maintained in the job file for later reference should it be required. Pulley bearings and housingsWe use ISO 281 to check the bearings’ theoretical B10 life. The housing type used is a function of diameter and client preference but as a rule, we use the SNG500 series for up to 90mm diameter shafts, T or FSSNG500 series for 100mm-140mm diameter and SD3100 series 140mm-300mm diameter, and either CSD series or AW solid housings above that. We propose Taconite sealing for all pulley applications. Pulley couplingsOur coupling designs are based on the oil-injected removal method and we recommend tapered joints for better maintenance procedures. Locking assembliesWe generally use TAS or equivalent such as MAV locking assemblies made in Europe. The series used depends on the loads and torque requirements, but generally we use the T3006 self-centering series unless toque or bending moment requirements need a higher capacity. In which case, we will use the wider T3015 self-centering series. For both these series, we limit the allowable running bending moment through the joint to locking assembly maker recommendations. Contract CNC machiningTefco is actively seeking contract machining work to utilise excess capacity on our CNC equipment. We have the knowledge and equipment to perform a large variety of complex CNC machining work, including large parts to 2,000mm diameter.
