Several years ago Precismeca set itself an ambitious and innovative objective - to completely modernize our production facility. We are pleased to announce that the automation of our facility in Nisku, Alberta, Canada is well under way and proceeding as planned.
This past year, 2007, has seen significant improvements. A new semi-automatic assembly machine was installed earlier this year. This machine, while designed specifically for the NEW PSV Roll, is also capable of producing our standard product line.
In addition to the assembly equipment, a new fully automatic robotic welding machine has just been installed. This machine is linked directly to the automatic tube preparation machine. The marriage of these machines greatly improves the production rate while maintaining superior quality.
Sophisticated software purchases and training have also been part of 2007. Our new Scheduling Software ties each machine and work center to a firm but flexible production timetable, thus significantly improving our on time deliveries. Cosmos (Finite Elemental Analysis), an engineering software system that provides both product stress analysis and design optimization has also been installed.
Also operational early in 2007 was the powder coat system. All rolls, frames and components (size permitting) will be powder coated. The result is a superior finish capable of surviving tough environmental conditions.
Our automation will continue. In February of 2008 we will receive our first fully automatic shaft preparation machine. This CNC machine is specifically designed to meet the highest quality requirements. Not only does it machine the shafts, it also mills and or drills the shafts as required. This particular machine monitors its production quality and when necessary adjusts tools accordingly. 100% of the product is inspected prior to completion.
Automation and innovation are two words Precismeca takes very seriously.
