01 August 2001

In May 2001, a new gantry crane was taken over by the Odense Steel Shipyard Limited Company, Denmark.

Now, only 17 months after the breakdown of the previous shipyard crane, a new and ultra modern Goliath crane designed with four trolleys and six hoisting gears was put into operation. The new crane is capable of performing the widest possible variety of handling operations in the shipyard where it is used for lifting segments of vessels. The crane can, for instance, lift loads with extreme eccentricity. This is extremely advantageous as, from now on, segments of various new shapes may be handled in the shipyard.

  • Lifting capacity: 1000 t
  • Span: 148 m
  • Max. height: 114 m above crane rail
  • Hoisting gears: 6 x 300 t
