Donetsk Mine Rescue Equipment Plant - Self-Rescuer Devices, Oxygen Respirators and Booster Compressors, and Chemical Gas Detectors

Donetsk Mine Rescue Equipment Plant (DZGA) is one of the world leaders in producing means of individual respiratory protection, with more than 50 years of experience in the safety business. Maintaining the highest quality of production is the top priority of the DZGA team. Through more than half a century of its lifetime, DZGA has produced around six million self-rescuers and 90,000 respirators, which save human lives every day.

Self-contained self-rescuer escape devices

DZGA’s self-contained self-rescuer (SCSR) is an escape device designed for use in the case of emergencies in environments containing smoke or lacking oxygen. Contrary to the regular filter-type self-rescuers developed to protect from some particular gas such as carbon monoxide, SCSR protects from excessive concentration of any gas in the atmosphere. DZGA produces SCSRs of 30min and 50min durations according to EN13794.

Closed-circuit oxygen respirators

Compressed closed-circuit oxygen respirators P-30 and P-34 (which have two and four-hour operation times respectively) are the basic means of breathing protection for professional mine rescue teams in Ukraine, Russia and many other countries. For many years, professionals have chosen DZGA respirators for their perfect reliability, usability and low weight.

With the P-30 closed-circuit oxygen respirator, inhaled air is purified from carbon dioxide using the soda lime cartridge. P-30 can be applied in environments from
–20ºC to 60ºC. If the respirator is used at high temperatures, the breathing gas is cooled by the water ice.

Oxygen booster compressors

DZGA’s oxygen booster compressor, KD-8, is designed for filling small capacity cylinders used in mine rescue equipment and medicine with medical oxygen.

The oxygen booster compressor pumps the oxygen from transport cylinders to the working cylinders with a capacity up to the pressure of 25Mpa. The compressor can be also used for pumping other non-aggressive gases such as air, nitrogen and argon.

Chemical gas detectors for humidity and atmosphere control

Chemical gas detectors are applied to control atmosphere composition and relative humidity of mine air, while carrying mining and mine-rescue works to provide safe working conditions.

DZGA’s gas detectors can be used for the detection of early-stage endogenous fires, control of mine workings' ventilation after firing operations, fire prospecting, quality control of isolated exhaust and fire areas, and stay time detection for mine rescuers under conditions of high humidity and temperature.
