Whittier Filtration - Precoat Filters

Whittier Filtration is a specialty filtration company offering separation and filtration equipment for mining processes. We are presently active in clarification of gold and silver cyanide leach solutions for the Merrill Crowe process. Whittier Filtration is part of Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies and has offices in most countries. We offer support during and after the sale, plus local fabrication services. We provide design and build capabilities globally using our group that specialises in these type of contracts.

We can provide a wide range of precoat filters for filtering leach solutions, organic recovery in Copper SXEW circuits, soda ash solutions and uranium leach liquors. These processes are filtered with precoat filters or high rate pressure media filters fabricated of materials suitable for the service. We supply pressure media filters constructed of high grade alloys for filtering highly corrosive solutions.

Our filters are supplied with complete automation and auxiliary equipment using any PLC desired.

PRECOAT PRESSURE LEAF FILTERS - Auto-Jet

We have supplied many systems consisting of precoat pressure leaf filters globally. The patented Auto-Jet filter offers higher flux rates and superior cleaning in these applications using a leaf assembly that rotates past spray nozzles during cleaning. We can also provide this filter with a dry cake discharge version using Teflon cutoff blades when needed. The patented Auto-Lok door allows quick opening by an operator for access within minutes.

This filter is offered in sizes from 100ft² to 2,000ft² and flux rates up to 3GPM/ft². The filter can be fabricated in a wide range of materials from carbon steel to titanium and with internal coatings or linings.

PRECOAT FIXED LEAF FILTER - Filtra-Matic

We offer other precoat filter designs of that have fixed leaves, and offer retracting tank or tube bundles with a hydraulic opening flange to allow for easy access. These designs can be supplied in sizes up to 3,000ft² and materials of construction from carbon steel lined or unlined and any alloy. During cleaning oscillating spray nozzles remove the cake from the filter leaf surface. In the case of dry cake discharge, the vessel is opened and vibrators shake the cake into a bin placed below the filter.

PRECOAT TUBULAR ELEMENT FILTER - Auto-Shok

The Auto-Shok filter is a precoat tubular element filter with vertical tubes supported from a tube sheet. The upper head stores a volume of air that is used to create a backpulse of filtered liquid to clean the tube screens. These type filters are more commonly used when materials of construction are critical and rubber-lined surfaces are needed. We have a version of this filter using membrane sleeves on the tubes and eliminating the need for precoat materials.

HIGH RATE DOWNFLOW MEDIA FILTER

We offer this filter with various grades of granular media and materials of construction. Some media is better for coalescing if oil or organic materials are being removed while other media is best suited for the removal of suspended solids down to 5 micron. Our process knowledge is applied to provide the best flux rates and media combination for each application.

AFTERMARKET

We have an active aftermarket program to assist in startup, field service and parts support. As we were formerly known as US Filter, we have the files for all filtration equipment from the 1950s and can supply parts, retrofit options and refurbishment of the existing filters. We have process experts that can assist with new applications and trouble shoot existing ones.
