Softrock Solutions - Slope Monitoring Software and Systems for the Mining and Construction Industries

SoftRock Solutions is a customer-driven company committed to total customer satisfaction for slope monitoring software and systems for open pit mining and the construction industries.

SoftRock's name is well known for slope monitoring software and systems used for the detection of movement in pit walls or where there is a requirement to detect geotechnical deformation. Using electronic total stations and a variety of telemetry options SoftRock can tailor a system to suit your needs. Providing a fully automated system that will collect data 24/7, alerting you should a movement exceed a nominated threshold.

Extensive development and field-testing allows SoftRock Solutions to build systems and software that deliver accurate reliable data for analysis.

Our continuing projects include the development of reflectorless scanning systems, simultaneous operation of multiple instruments, and satellite telemetry.

WHY MONITOR SLOPE MOVEMENT?

Monitoring of slope movement is necessary for reasons of safety and for the protection of life and assets both natural and man-made. Traditional monitoring systems found in the mining industry use electronic total stations and retro-reflectors (prisms). This is a tried and tested method, a simple system, and one that when managed correctly provides consistent reliable data.

SoftRock Solutions automated this process with the development of Autoslope, Quikslope and AutoSat.

AUTOSLOPE AND QUIKSLOPE AUTOMATED MONITORING SYSTEMS

Autoslope software controls electronic total stations used in the monitoring process. Quikslope software manages data from manual observations or in conjunction with Autoslope to provide a fully automated system.

Data is available in real time in Quikslope, and a visual display in Autoslope allows the user to immediately see the location, extent and time of movement.

A variety of timing options allow high-risk areas to be monitored at a frequency that is user defined. Alarming options add to SoftRock's system making it a valuable safety tool for your operation.

Gathering data from known points over time across mine walls, berms and crests to millimetre accuracy, allows movement trends to be easily identified. Providing the user with the ability to predict and put in place contingencies, mitigating risk and loss.

Capturing data on a global basis allows the geotechnical engineer and mine planning engineer to conduct further analysis for the purpose of mine design.

Autoslope and Quikslope are custom-built packages that assist geotechnical engineers in decision making with respect to pit wall stability, improving risk management while exceeding compliance of many statutory authorities.

SOFTROCK AUTOMATED MONITORING SYSTEM FEATURES

SoftRock automated monitoring systems possess many features:

  • Small / large systems can be configured using one to six instruments
  • Long distance tracking and measurement
  • Real-time data transfer
  • Integration and connection to various sensors (met data)
  • Automated computation and data comparison
  • Visual display of area being monitored
  • Events manager (rainfall, seismic events, blasting times, re-survey of control)
  • Third party monitoring systems (crack pins, multi wire extensometers)
  • Charting reporting and editing for detailed analysis(Quikslope)
  • Backup and archive
  • Multiple alarming options (SMS texting, audible tone alarm, audible office alarm, flashing strobe alarm for field, email)
  • Modular components (radios, solar panels, cables, antennas, SMS module, 6m telescopic antenna masts)
  • IP65 rated enclosures

ADVANTAGES OF SOFTROCK SYSTEMS

The SoftRock systems have many advantages. They have a high accuracy displacement measurement to retro-reflectors (prisms) (5mm +/- 2ppm). They can operate in most conditions depending on distance (100m to 3,000m to a single prism). They come with a variety of timing options and can provide coverage 24/7.

SOFTROCK SYSTEM APPLICATIONS

  • Monitoring pit walls and berms during mining
  • Surface deformation near mine high walls
  • Monitoring mine waste dumps and haul roads
  • Large structure stability (conveyor gantry and foundations)
  • Monitoring buildings near underground excavations
  • Monitoring earth fill dam walls

Our systems have also been used in applications such as road cutting, bridge construction, landslide areas and land fill displacement.
