Set up to meet the growing demands of the drilling industry, HI-TECH Pneumatics and Heat Treaters have progressed from the manufacture of DTH hammers, to low-pressure pneumatic rigs, through to high pressure drilling tools.

With the company's emphasis on heat treatment grew the need for quality, both in this area and forging and testing. With this in mind, HI-TECH Pneumatics invested in a forge plant, heat treatment plant and laboratory.

Our hammers are designed to be aggressive so that maximum drilling penetration can be achieved. HI-TECH has range of hammers from 2in to 8in.

FORGE PLANT

HI-TECH forgings specialise in tailoring items to meet customer requirements across the world. HI-TECH Forge has customers in industries such as tool manufacturing, the automobile industry, ancillaries, power and engineering.

We have a broad range of raw materials ranging from 100mm to 300mm billet. These include carbon, alloy, stainless, tool steel, copper, nickel, aluminum, and other ferrous and non-ferrous grades. All incoming material is verified for chemistry, UT and other relevant properties.

Our forge plant has enabled us to establish a vast clientele. Since 1994 the company has expanded from a production capacity of 900t to 2,500t per annum.

HEAT TREATMENT

Our heat treatment plant is equipped with the latest furnaces, and we have a rotary charging machine to ensure timely loading and quenching of material for the correct results. These include:

• The latest gas carbursing, pit type hardening and temperature furnaces
• Muffle oven
• Tempering oven
• Oil / mar quench / polymer
• Quenching tank
• Double pot salt bath
• Chamber type hardening surface
• Rotary charging machine
• Cooling pit / washing unit
• Hardness testing
• Sub-zero treatment

We also undertake polymer quenching for carbon and alloy steels. Through this operation these materials receive high impact strength due to deep hardenability and a high percentage of marten site throughout the components.

We have facilities for heat treatment of small finished components in our double pot salt bath. This can undertake heat treatment of lengthy components without distortion. A washing machine is installed to wash off oils and salts from the components.

METALLURGICAL AND CHEMICAL ANALYSIS LABORATORY

The combination of a research and development team and equipped laboratory means that HI-TECH pneumatics is able to provide failure analysis and problem solving. The facility offers all necessary equipment for metallurgical analysis, chemical analysis, NDT, and Design Technology (DT).

Our lab team is comprised of expert metallurgists, NDT Engineers, DT engineers and chemists.

Further to the manufacture of DTH hammers and button bits, we have the capability of mounting bore well rigs in 6in and 4 ½in versions. These rigs can be mounted on tractors, trucks, and bulldozers depending on the capacity of the compressor, drilling depth and the specific customer requirement.

Our pneumatic engineers are experts in hydraulics and excellent fabricators, meaning they ensure the successful output of rigs.

In our plan to diversify we have chosen to manufacture and supply finished components as required by automobile & machine tool industries which starts right from raw-materials, heat treatment, CNC machining, special processes, and packing as desired by our customer.
