Screw Sand Washing

13 March 2009

The Zenith screw sand washing machine is mainly used for sand processing, electric pole factories, building work sites, concrete dams and sands classifying and dewatering. This sand washer adopts an inclination of 15°. Under the water tub three weir plates form the sediment pool. The screw head is immersed in this pool, the screw is driven by electric motor through the reducer, rotating continuously, and the fresh water is fed from the porous plate at the bottom of the sediment pool. This machine has three functions: washing, dewatering and classifying.

Washing

The sand is fed into the sediment pool from the feeding box, acting by rotating screw blade. The sand turns and rolls and grinds itself to eliminate impurity and the water-air layer around the sand, to facilitate de-watering. The fresh water rising current from the porous plate carries foreign matter to the water surface and overflows the weir plate, to finish the washing processing.

De-watering

The sand with bigger density is sunken down to the tub bottom and the screw blade pushes this sand upwards. When passing through the upper tub of proper length above the water level, the water is drained into the sediment pool from another drainage ditch. The de-watered sand comes out from the discharging opening.

Classifying

Material classifying is realised by overflowing the unneeded fines. The controlling method is adjusting the height of the overflowing weir and adjusting the speed of the screw.
