From 29 August to 1 September, the International Fair of Mining, Power Industry and Metallurgy KATOWICE held in front of Spodek, and the adjacent International Conference Centre, attracted again, exhibitors and visitors from all over the world.

This year’s edition of the fair was exceptional for the FAMUR Group. FAMUR presented its portfolio together with KOPEX Group – its former competitor. This history-making event was an effect of the ongoing integration process of these two domestic (Polish) leaders in the mining-related industry.

During a press conference, FAMUR CEO Mirosław Bendzera raised the issue of integration with KOPEX, its importance, objectives and benefits for the FAMUR Group. Mr Bendzera emphasized that together, as a strong organization, we can challenge the world’s leaders. Thanks to the combination of FAMUR-KOPEX know-how, resources and experience we are able to complete investment projects globally, both for the mining and power-transshipment industries.

This time FAMUR presented its extended offer in an innovative way. We bet on new technologies, using a virtual reality to demonstrate our flagship products. The traditional machines were substituted with 3D printed models and a user-friendly virtual application. Our multimedia zone attracted visitors who could take a virtual walk through the underground mine, control a real roadheader remotely or control a shearer loader made of LEGO bricks by students of Silesian University of Technology.

Our experts were available for visitors at our over 500m² booth and shared a professional knowledge during product seminar, where selected solutions provided by FAMUR were discussed. We focused on the concept of Industry 4.0 in the mining industry, possibilities of increasing the efficiency of coalfaces in Poland, roadheaders remote control, diagnostics of industrial gearboxes and man-riding belt conveyors.
