The mining mobile inspection robot (GMRI) was awarded a silver medal at the 110th International Invention Show, ‘Concours Lepine’, that took place between 28 April and 8 May 2011 in Paris.
A prototype of the first in the world mining robot is a result of a development project carried out by the EMAG Institute in cooperation with the Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements in Warsaw.
The robot was designed mainly to support mine rescue activities, it can be used to measure the concentration of methane, oxygen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and the values of temperature and humidity as well as to transmit pictures on excavations condition.
‘Concours–Lepine’ is one of the oldest show events in France. During this year’s anniversary edition there were 500 inventions presented from 14 countries, including 28 inventions from Poland.
