Introducing AMR’s New Mine Net Tagging, Tracking, and Communications System

09 January 2008

American Mine Research has set the standard in enhancing mine safety and productivity for over 30 years. Now, in light of recent tragedies and with the passage of new safety legislation in the US, AMR has set the bar even higher with the development of its unique mine net tagging, tracking and communications system.

Available for use in conjunction with AMR's MC-4000 and MC-4000-ET Systems or as a stand-alone system, the Mine Net system allows mine operators to keep track of miners and equipment while inside the mine. Smart readers, with up to four antennas, are placed throughout the mine and communicate through standard twisted pair copper wire or fiber-optic cable. They provide the master station with tag, message and receiver information, and contain a battery backup option. The Mine Net Tag has been approved as an intrinsically safe device by MSHA and is small, light-weight, ultra durable and can be carried or mounted to almost any surface. The Tag, which has a battery life of up to three years, provides tag ID number, battery level, ambient temperature, and an integrated tactile button for up to eight coded messages. For example, users can broadcast questions, current conditions, call for help, request assistance, etc.

Focusing on the mining industry's needs has driven AMR to provide customers with products that will get the job done, improve safety, and reduce operating costs and downtime. With a continuous outlook on the latest technologies and the growing requirements of the industry, AMR is consistent in providing what the mine needs when it needs it.
