SAFEmine Technology (USA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Ruff as Business Development Manager for North America. Todd brings over 24 years of experience in mine safety technology research and development to SAFEmine.

Todd earned his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA and is a registered professional engineer in Washington State. Formerly with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Office of Mine Safety and Health Research in the US, Todd has led projects that have developed new technology designed to increase the safety of miners operating or working in the vicinity of mining equipment.

His recent projects included the development, demonstration, and evaluation of collision warning systems for mining equipment, the evaluation of technologies for preventing collisions on roadway construction sites, and the oversight of government/industry partnerships to develop new personnel location tracking systems for use in mines. For the last two years at NIOSH he has served as the deputy manager of the Electrical and Machine Safety Research Group.

"We look forward to applying Todd’s experience in collision warning technology to help mining companies meet their equipment safety goals. Todd’s background is an excellent fit with SAFEmine’s approach of intelligent and context sensitive alarming, which is critical to reliability and operator acceptance," said Cyrille Sauvain, SAFEmine’s director for the Americas.
