Hexagon Mining is being praised for its contribution to HxGN LIVE, Hexagon’s annual user conference in Las Vegas, which concluded on 4 June.

Led by President Hélio Samora and his executive team, Hexagon Mining was warmly received for its vision of an integrated, life-of-mine solution. The LIVEmine approach of harnessing real-time technology to connect mine planning with mine operations and mine safety aroused particular interest.

Mining Journal editor in chief Richard Roberts who travelled from London to cover the event attended by more than 3,500 people said: "LIVEmine represents an impressive vision that very few companies seem capable of individually conceiving.

"The technology integration just around the corner sounds very exciting. The important integration of Hexagon businesses and technologies is producing more advanced mining offerings than we’ve seen, such as HxM Athena and HxM Blast."

Both products were demonstrated to a steady stream of attendees in The Zone, HxGN LIVE’s technology expo that showcased more than 50,000ft2 of innovation. They were also central to presentations, HxGN TV panel discussions, and Samora’s keynote address.

HxM Athena’s business intelligence and business analytics capabilities impressed Cobre del Mayo dispatch manager Victor Rodriguez, who said that his company is considering the product: "Hexagon’s a very powerful group.

"It’s an incredible organisation, a lot can be learned from them."

The message of integration and real-time monitoring also struck a chord with Ali Yaguas, FMS coordinator at Barrick Gold’s Pueblo Viejo mine in the Dominican Republic.

Yaguas said of Hexagon Mining’s operations technology: "Compared side-by-side with other systems, we had good results with Jigsaw.

"From that real-time monitoring, you can standardise your mine, which will allow you to standardise repetitive tasks, your future KPIs; it’ll allow you to establish what it is you want to achieve in your mine."

Samora welcomed the feedback and said: "Everyone involved in a mining operation needs to access actionable information, anywhere, anytime, on multiple devices for the life of the mine.

"Miners are dealing with enough challenges, which is why we are developing LIVEmine and products like Blast and Athena."

Now the stage is set for a second HxGN LIVE conference in Hong Kong, from 18-20 November, as well as MineQuest seminars in Perth on 17-19 June, Swakopmund, Namibia on 23-25 June, Hermosillo 15-17 July, Lima 20-22 July, and Santiago 22-24 July.
