Satellite network products

Pivotel caters to individuals, small businesses and large corporations who reside, work and travel in remote parts of Australia and beyond. Regardless of the satellite network coverage required, the Pivotel Satellite network provides the following:

• Lowest satellite call rates in Australia; similar rate to calling from a standard mobile phone with calls from a low 30 cents per 30s
• No charge to receive calls
• Incoming calls charged at the same rate as calling a standard mobile phone; charges applicable to the caller's service provider
• An optional GSM sim card at no additional cost; this is a cost-effective option for when you are in GSM range

Global mobile satellite network

Pivotel Iridium provides full global coverage across Australia and the immediate 200 nautical miles off the Australian coast. Outside of the primary Australian coverage zone, the Pivotel Iridium service provides full global coverage at international roaming call rates.

Pivotel's Iridium satellite coverage is provided by a constellation of 66 low earth orbiting (LEO) satellites operating at an altitude of 800km. Signals from an Iridium phone are received by the constellation of LEO satellites and then relayed from satellite-to-satellite to the ground-based gateway in the USA. At the ground gateway, the call is routed into Pivotel's Australian telephone-switching infrastructure, and onwards to the person called.

Simple, low-cost and reliable mobile satellite network

Pivotel Iridium offers the lowest drop call rates in the mobile satellite industry and has easy-to-use, familiar functions for simple operation. In addition, it has the following features:

Mobile satellite network for casual users

The Pivotel Globalstar mobile satellite network is ideal for casual users and offers low-cost hardware, better voice quality, familiar handset display functions and a long-life battery (up to 3.75h talk time).

With the Globalstar mobile network, simple satellite-mode operation can be achieved by turning the satellite antenna up to get a connection. Pivotel is offering discounted airtime minutes of 50% until 31st December 2009.

The Globalstar Network experiences some delays in call connection due to gaps in the constellation. Users who wish to connect to the Pivotel Globalstar network should anticipate this.

Mobile satellite GSM and SIM cards

The Pivot12 plan for the mobile satellite network is available for any Pivotel satellite customers using either Globalstar or Iridium satellite services as a second SIM option. The plan allows you to combine both accounts on the one bill, making it easier to manage and keep track of what you are spending, and only pay for what you use.

Highlights of the Pivot12 plan include calls charged at 12 cents per 30s and 12 cents per text (SMS) message, and no minimum monthly spend.

Satellite asset-tracking service

TracerTrak, a unique asset-tracking product, enables you to keep track of your mobile assets anywhere in Australia using a satellite tracking unit, which is secured to your asset.

The self-contained, self-powered satellite tracking unit sends location and alarm information across the Globalstar satellite network, allowing you to:

• Locate, map and track mobile assets throughout Australia and its surrounding waters
• Collect and deliver telemetry data from your remote monitoring solution - with or without mapping
• View and manage assets online through the secure, feature rich, simple-to-configure TracerTrak console
• Always stay in touch through sophisticated schedule or event-driven alerting functionality delivered via email or SMS
