Orion Satellite Systems

Delivering enterprise-grade broadband services to areas with limited landline infrastructure, or to far-flung operations such as maritime or oil and gas exploration, has always presented challenges. A decade ago, most operators simply could not justify expending the resources to build out networks to serve these remote locations. All that began to change when the Hughes solutions became the affordable answer to delivering high-quality services in smaller networks, enabling both permanent and mobile operators to operate their own systems - no matter how remote the area.

Now, with the release of the HX Systems, Orion is raising the bar for advanced satellite networks, bringing significant technology enhancements to the satellite solutions space that enable even higher performance and efficiencies. These enhancements support the needs of a wide range of markets, including enterprise networking, IP trunking, 3G/4G cellular backhaul, Virtual Network Operator (VNO) hosting, and Comms-On-The-Move for airborne/maritime/ land, including defence and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR).

Higher efficiency coding

The new HX System introduces two key features that bring even greater efficiency and lower costs to operators. On the forward
channel, implementation of Generic Stream Encapsulation (GSE) delivers up to 14% efficiency improvement. On the return channel, Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) coding, combined with Hughes adaptive coding, enables up to 33% efficiency improvement overTurbo Codes.

Interested in the HX?

If you have a project that requires dedicated bandwidth (1:1), symmetrical bandwidth configurations or greater upload speeds for video conferencing, terminal server access and or VoIP services, or you are simply interested in how you can take your remote projects communications to the next level, do not hesitate in contacting Orion to discuss the benefits a HX solution could have on your project and its operations.
