Chains and Wire Ropes

ACT manufacturers forged and cast flight bars for armoured face conveyors and beam stage loaders for longwall mining.

The Scorpion range of longwall shearer cable handling (Bretby) systems are universally acknowledged as the world standard.

ACT is a leading manufacturer of longwall conveyor chain, associated connectors and Enorm grade 100 lifting chain and fittings.

As China, the US and Eastern Europe are making greater demands on our UK facility, ACT is expanding its longwall chain and flight bar manufacturing capabilities.

In a conventional rope, an external load creates a moment which tries to untwist the rope and rotate the load. A rotation-resistant CASAR special wire rope such as the Starlift does not show any tendency to untwist even when loaded to the safe working load of the application.

The most effective remedy against birdcaging is to use a CASAR Special Wire Rope with an internal plastic layer. By sealing the core, the plastic traps lubricant and ensures a maintenance free core with lifetime lubrication.

Compacted strands increasing the fill factor of the rope elements

A large number of strands increasing the metallic area of the rope and offering a smoother contact at both drum and sheaves.

Parallel lay leads to a more compacted rope construction.

WRI offers both the standard cushion rope and the market-leading Cushion Pac Ultra (CPU) rope.

WRI’s dragline ropes are available in both six and eight-strand designs, and with protection for all the internal moving parts.

WRI offers structural strand ropes to the ASTM A586 standard.

From full-lock coil to flattened-strand and multi-strand ropes, WRI offers a complete product range for underground mining.

WRI’s CD catalogue gives you all the information you need to select the correct rope for your application.
