Fidax has been an influential supplier of engineering castings to the Australian mining industry for a long time, having supplied couplings and other casting needs to many of the world's most successful mining companies.
Founded in 1947, Fidax Foundry still operates as a family-owned business that currently specialises in ductile iron. We provide:
During the last ten years we have focused on the railway industry, which we have made significant progress in. With the development of this sector, we have invested heavily in our plant, which has resulted in a significant increase in our capacity.
On review of our business model, however, we have decided to focus our attention and abilities to further meet the needs of the mining sector. We currently cast all grades using chrome and copper to achieve very high-strength materials with competitive pricing.
With 60% of our production being exported, we believe we have proven our competitiveness on the world market and can therefore provide the mining sector with an attractive supply solution.
Fidax can provide many different parts and components to the mining industry and is happy to use our design services to work with each customer to meet their product, quality and pricing objectives.
We have the ability to work with engineering firms to develop efficient solutions to meet tough industry standards. An example of our abilities is shown by our agreement with ONESTEEL to supply its pipe couplings throughout Australia.
We offer couplings, valves, pump casting, general engineering castings and component assemblies.
Fidax Foundry operates under the mandate of continuous improvement, resulting in the continual development of our foundry facility, which has led to a very modern and efficient manufacturing plant. All processes and procedures are governed under ISO9001:2000 accreditation.
We run a DISAMATIC vertical green sand moulding machine that casts ductile and grey iron casting from 0.3kg to 30kg. Inductotherm tri-trak induction melting furnaces are used with a melt rate of 7.5t/hr.
An in-house CNC machining centre allows for all tooling to be done within our facility, saving time and money.
Our first-class quality control (QC) department provides real-time melt treatment monitoring, which results in customers being able to rely on the quality and consistency of the products from the point of order right through to end delivery and after-sales service.
