Cavotec also caters for high stress operations with fibre-optic cables and Kevlar.

Electrical cable reels

Cavotec is a leading supplier of motorised electrical cable reels and has played a prominent role in the electrification of equipment throughout the mining industry.

Cavotec’s motorised electrical cable reels have been designed to withstand extreme conditions common in the mining and tunnelling industries, and have remained consistently popular among industry operators, including major players such as Atlas Copco and Sandvik Tamrok.

Power supply connectors

Cavotec has developed a complete range of low and medium voltage power-supply connectors for the mining and tunnelling industries. Designed to meet the intense demands of these sectors, our electrical power connectors are in action above ground and deep below the earth at sites throughout the world.

With both low and medium voltage ranges, our power supply connectors cover a vast array of industry needs. All electrical power connectors can be supplied pre-fitted in standard power units, including short-circuit breakers.

Cavotec also produces a complete range of multi-pin outlets for control cables, designed to supply a maximum of 50 pins and 15A.

Radio remote controls

Certified to ATEX and IEC standards, Cavotec’s radio remote controls guarantee safe and secure remote communication. Our radio remote controls are manufactured to the highest standards and are a favourite with major industry operators.

MC-3000 Ex and MC-3-6 Ex radio remote controls

The MC-3000 Ex and MC-3-6 Ex radio remote controls provide secure and flexible control for a vast range of machinery. In addition to features common to standard radio remote controls, these units can also be adapted to use cable control. The systems provide users with an extra guarantee against shutdown if other communication links fail.

Both radio remote controls can be delivered with simplex or duplex communication. The duplex communication option allows operators to receive messages, such as alarms and status indications via LEDs, control display and indicator instruments.

Pushbutton radio remote controls

The MC-2-3 and MC-2-5 standard operator terminals are designed to be the safest, most ergonomic and most cost-effective pushbutton radio remote controls for the mining industry – built to standards often only found on top-end systems.

Both terminals are equipped with displays showing operational information. The MC-2-3 has six two-step pushbuttons, four single-step pushbuttons, and one for emergency stops. The MC-2-5 has an additional four two-step pushbuttons. The radio remote controls are powered by two AA batteries, providing 40 hours of continuous operation.

For improved flexibility, the base unit, MC-IRXLITE, has preset selectable programmes. These include interlocking between motions and separate second-step relays for two-step pushbuttons. A log of the last ten operating sessions provides information on system usage and radio signal quality.

Hydraulic truck loader radio remote controls

Ergonomic and futuristic MC-3-4 radio remote controls are designed especially for hydraulic truck loader applications and can be used as hand-held or belt mounted. Together with the selector buttons, the built-in graphical display makes them easy to use. The special v-shaped joystick allows operation with either thumb or index finger for precise control of crane movement.

Primarily designed to interface with automotive CAN bus systems, the MC-3-4 can be delivered with any of Cavotec’s extensive range of base units. This gives possibilities for any industry-standard outputs, from simple relays, direct connection to solenoids and communication with advanced PLC systems.

MC-3-4 radio remote controls are made for mass production, resulting in competitive prices for OEMs demanding a higher volume and streamlined supply chain. Wearing parts such as joysticks are replaceable, and pairing a terminal and base unit is easy, allowing easy replacement of a damaged or misplaced units.

Radio remote control receiver units

The range of receiver units designed and manufactured by Cavotec covers all common industry applications. Upon request, the receivers can be built into an Ex d/e housing. These housings have been specially designed to fulfil all Ex requirements according to ATEX and IEC certification guidelines.
