TestSafe Australia is an internationally recognised testing, certification, research and investigation facility. It is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and is one of a small number of such facilities worldwide offering both benchmarked testing and certification services to a wide range of industries. It is now the case that equipment manufacturers require safety certification if they wish to export into markets such as the European Union and the US. This is particularly the case if the equipment is to be used in potentially hazardous environments such as petrochemical and mining. TestSafe Australia is now in its 40th year of operation as an internationally accredited testing, research and certification centre. It has a loyal client base within the mining industry and among mining equipment manufacturers (both in Australia and internationally). MINING EQUIPMENT TESTINGIn Australia there is a strong history of equipment for mining being tested and certified before it is utilised in production. Industries such as mining are vividly aware of the fact that such testing of equipment is fundamental to reducing fires, explosions and subsequent loss of life. It is a testimony to the adherence to these standards that these industries in Australia are now among the safest in the world. Fortunately Australia relies on a small number of well-established testing facilities, such as TestSafe Australia in New South Wales, which are of world standard in the services they provide to industry. Their links with other similar establishments in the US, Great Britain, Japan, Germany, France, South Africa, China, Korea and Italy, ensures that the certification requirements for equipment being moved between these countries are achieved with relative smoothness. SAFETY TESTING ENGINEERSVisit, for example, any underground mining situation throughout Australia and it becomes immediately apparent that the bulk of equipment used in production has been subject to rigorous testing before use. In a large number of cases this has been specifically done by testing engineers at TestSafe Australia. TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT TESTINGIn the case of transportation equipment such as conveyor belting, winders and wire ropes, their constant use means that they are systematically retested by both destructive and non-destructive methods. These arrangements are now embedded as a fundamental and routine aspect of risk management for these industries, and in most states are supported by government regulation and inspection. MINE EXPLOSION TESTING TUNNELTestSafe is now the primary Australian facility accredited to operate within the International Electro-technical Commission’s Explosion (Ex) scheme as an Ex certification and testing laboratory. The bulk of its staff are NATA-accredited for their specialist expertise, and its product certification service has been JAS-ANZ accredited for the last decade. Its full-scale mine fire and explosion tunnels are the only ones of their kind in the southern hemisphere'. INVESTIGATION SERVICE Now more than ever, TestSafe aims to provide the mining industry with a specialised independent testing, certification, and investigation service to an internationally recognised level.
