AngleStar Precision Digital Inclinometer for Angle Measurement

18 January 2010

Bestech Australia presents the AngleStar electronic protractor system from Sherborne Sensors. This precision inclinometer is a ready-to-use, standalone system for angle measurements. The system incorporates the AccuStar electronic inclinometer, a digital display and a four foot cable. Cable lengths are also available up to 200ft.

The AccuStar electronic inclinometer is a compact and rugged angle measurement device and is ideal where space is critical and environmental conditions are a serious design concern.

The heart of the system is a capacitance based sensor with no moving parts. When rotated about the sensing axis, the inclinometer provides an exceedingly linear variation in capacitance, which is electronically converted into angular data. The sensor and low power CMOS electronics are encased in a rugged plastic housing to withstand harsh conditions.

The angle measurement system operates on a 9V battery and needs no external power. There are three systems to choose from: ±20° with a 0.01° resolution or ±45° and ±90° with 0.1° resolution.

Applications for this inclinometer system include platform levelling, antenna positioning, mining equipment or machine tooling. Inclinometers can also be used for measurements of rock shifts and earth movement as well as vibration measurements, all of which are critical in the mining industry.

This electronic protractor system and many other inclinometers are available in Australia and New Zealand from Bestech Australia Pty Ltd.
